Parrot AR Drone

Found this over at Techeblog… another thing to add to my ever-growing christmas list. At $299.99, Parrot’s AR Drone is basically a flying video game that is also the “first quadricopter that can be controlled by an iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad.” Hopefully Android will be added to that list soon, because I wasn’t planning on investing on any Apple products anytime in the forseeable future. It’s my understanding that an Android version is in the works, thanks to Parrot’s open API for the Drone.
It’s the Parrot AR Drone, a unique quadricopter, also known as the Drone missile. The AR Drone features two fixed cameras so you can get a Drone’s-eye view right on the screen of your iPod, iPhone or iPad; one wide angle camera facing forward and another pointing straight down at what is below. This is a revolutionary device, as it is controlled via Wi-Fi and is stabilized by onboard computers, which makes it easier to maneuver than radio-controlled devices.
In addition, the AR Drone has a virtual game mode that will show enemies on the screen of your iPod, iPhone or iPad so you can take out fake fighters rather than your family members. You can check out more AR Drone action in the video below.
