Just finished the cover artwork for my wife’s 2nd book (and my favorite to date), Pretty Witches All in a Row. The story is about a homicide detective and his team who are investigating the murders of what they first think are some harmless new age Wiccans, but actually turns out to involve real magic and powerful rituals.
The cover was done to my wife’s specifications, which depicts one of the murder scenes from the book where a member of the coven is found dead in her bathtub. The darkness/spotlight are just for drama, the bathroom in the book is actually stark white. Note that part of a black pentacle is visible under the tub.

Well after 25 years, I finally tried doing my own version of my Green Mage character that this website was named for. I have 2 prior versions done by my friend Gerry Fail (one can be seen on my Why Greenemage page, the other may have been lost to the sands of time) but even though I’ve been drawing myself now for over 10 years I’ve never attempted him.
On this one I was going for speed, took me about 2 hours to draw and ink, which is very fast for me… the coloring took another 3-ish. Overall I’m happy with the result.

My latest project, did this over the last couple days, cover art for my wife Lisa’s current book project, Angel of Mercy. This was done in pencil/pen and finished in Photoshop. This isn’t really the final version, rather than a shadow of an angel as shown she wants there to be the silhouette of an angel in the background, with some highlighting on the angel’s face… but for now I’m burned out on it and not quite sure what I want the angel to look like. So I did this version, and may come back to it if I get inspired.

Found this on the web, and had to share. If you ain’t a Firefly/Serenity fan, might not make much sense to you.
“Now I did a job. I ain’t got nothing but trouble since I did it, not to mention more than a few unkind words as regards to my character, so let me make this abundantly clear: I do the job. And then I get paid.” – Capt Malcom Reynolds
I’ve had this little guy about 8-10 years, and until today he’s been in his box in the garage. I bought him to commemorate my own time in the sub service, and the clothing and equipment he comes with are all pretty accurate – down to the sound powered phone he’s wearing, and the belt pouch with pliers and a mini mag light. There is even a scar on his face, we submariners have always been a rough-and-tumble lot. I dressed just like him a long time ago (my wife just recently donated my green foul-weather jacket to Goodwill, much to my chagrin) and it brings back a lot of memories to see this.
Not being the collector type, it didn’t bother me a bit to break into the still-sealed box, I was motivated to bring it in to work and display it on a shelf at my desk as my boss is an ex-marine (or as he would say, once a marine, always a marine) and has a figure of a marine in combat fatigues proudly displayed at his own desk. So here is is, it all it’s glory!
