Well, this is a little more difficult to explain than I thought it would be… it goes back to around 1985-86 when I was heavily into role-playing games (if you don’t know what that is, check out the Wikipedia Entry). It’s a passion that has never really died, just changed form. Well, one of my favorite characters to come out of that era was based on myself, a modern-day wizard whose magical effects are all green. Thus making him, “The Green Mage”.

Then the mid to late nineties came along, and I found myself needing a screen name for this wondrous new online tool called “AOL Instant Messenger”. Unfortunately greenmage (without the “e”) wasn’t available already, so I tacked on the the “e” and voila! I had the name that I still use today. I have continued to use it, for other IM clients, gmail, and for various forums and boards… so much that it has become my online identity.

So there you go… my site, my online name!
